When she was 13, Hélène knew what she wanted out of life : she wanted to become a dancer! She then left her family to follow a dance and academic training in Paris.

After beeing granted several awards and prizes , including the First Prize at the Paris Conservatoire de Paris, she joined the Youth Ballet of France and carried on her career within the Ballet of the Grand Théâtre de Genève with whom she has danced on the most famous stages worldwide.

Throughout her career, Hélène has always been interested in the human body, movement, well-being, preventative care and rehabilitation therapy. So she naturally turned to the Pilates method, whose efficiency and numerous benefits became immediately apparent to her. She trained and became certified at Swissbody's.

She met Karin Locher in 2013 and realises that she teaches more that a method of muscular strengthening, but that Pilates through a fascial lens , is well beyond straightening the imbalance that life has left on the body.

Joachim Schultz - Member & Faculty

Life is a journey, and it has been ongoing since I last updated my biography 3 years ago. I am still happily married to my husband Sébastien and I am still living in Zurich, working in our practice for bodywork REalEASE.

I am a faculty teacher for Centre for Spatial Medicine CPM education©, an Anatomy Trains structural integrator and a Psych-K© facilitator.

Other things have changed.

I am starting the year 2019 with having been naturalised, so I am Swiss now as much as still owning the German passport.

My body and my attitude to its signals and wisdom keeps changing with everything new I discover, and so do my clients and students.

My approach to bodywork changes with it. It makes my work as a faculty teacher for Centre for Spatial Medicine more challenging and more rewarding.

Every session, every practice hour, every lesson I teach is a journey of joined discovery. I feel grateful for this.

Grateful to the teachers that have put me on and guided me along this path and still are with me on the road.

First and fore-most Karin Locher without whom I probably would have abandoned this path a few years back.

Grateful to the people from Anatomy Trains, who set me on the path of manual bodywork: James Earls, Don Thompson, Lou Benson and Wojciech Cackowski played major parts in this.

Grateful to Sharon Wheeler for all the added impact her workshops have had on my manual work ever since I graduated.

Grateful to April Jones for watching over my body, imparting the wisdom of Eve Gentry into my Pilates work.

Grateful to Brunhild Hoffmann to have put tools into my toolbox that help to change subconscious belief systems through the Psych-K approach.

Through all this it has become my truth, that our body is one way of our subconscious to talk to us.

The exploration of this road will keep me busy for quite some time.

Change is what my experiences have helped me to embrace, and what my working expertise and knowledge enable me to help others find in themselves.

Our body is constantly changing, adapting and renewing itself.

I am grateful to be a faculty teacher for Centre for Spatial Medicine/ CPM education©, an Anatomy Trains structural integrator and a member of the Psych-K© family. All of which allow me to explore my own ways within our common denominators. It’s such an amazing playground to find oneself in.

My way to Pilates was typical for a dancer: a back injury. Studying dance in London in the early nineties I first heard about the Pilates method. Back home in Switzerland, after giving birth to twin daughters, I ended up with a disc hernia. I was facing the prospect of having to give up dancing altogether. It was then that I started to train Pilates regularly, as it was the only one of the many „therapies“ I tried that gave me real results. Soon I was able to dance again. After that I became a Pilates teacher myself, completing the training for the Pilates Polestar method. But the two disciplines – dance and Pilates – continued to be separate planets.

During my dance career I also had Rolfing sessions. Therefore, when I saw the first workshops with Karin Locher announced, it immediately drew my attention. It turned out to be one of the key experiences of my life.

After two years of studying with CPM I got to the stage where there was no difference any more between my dance and my Pilates work. CPM fascial training connects science, art, psychology and spirituality. It is real holistic work.

My flamenco dance school exists since 30 years now and during the last year I started to create my own dance training – „DancEgrity“ (from „dance“ and „tensegrity“) – which integrates the knowledge gained from fascia research into dance movements in a creative manner, emphasising body-awareness  and drawing its energy out of the urge to move and the passion for dancing. Thanks to the knowledge gained in the last few years I continue to perform, dance and teach at an age when most dancers are already retired.

I’ve always been interested in movement, learning and discovering new aspects of life. Passionate about movement, I’m convinced of its impact on the personal well-being of each individual and on many aspects of their lives. It is this passion and the irresistible desire to transmit it that made me turn to teaching, after having worked for 15 years in the tourism, events and administrative fields.

My interest for the Pilates method started ten years ago with my own practice and has never let me go. I completed my first studio comprehensive training with Balanced Body in 2016. At that time, my interest in fascia research and how this new research offers interesting applications for a new perspective on health, rehabilitation and performance enhancement started to grow. I attended the workshop “The body responds” with Karin Locher that was hosted by Celina Hwang in Geneva. From then, it became clear that I wanted to know more, to explore more and to go deeper. I started the Bridging Programme with the Centre for Spatial Medicine led by Karin Locher and learned the original Pilates studio repertoire from a fascial perspective. In 2019, I graduated with CPM. It is not about Pilates or any method, it is about the body, the human and how it is connected. It is about fascia and how this extraordinary body-wide fabric connects us with ourselves and with the world. Working with the body is exciting and requires varied skills and intuition. It requires being aware to the person as a whole, not just physically. I believe that all this will keep me well occupied for a while…

Having worked in different Pilates studios in the French part of Switzerland, I now live and teach in my own studio, opened 2018, in Gstaad.

As an outdoor sports lover and teacher – Nordic Walking and cross-country skiing – I also work as an expert and teacher trainer for the Swiss national programme “Erwachsenensport”.

I have always been passionate about movement and since 2013 I have been intensely interested in the fascia. I am a fitness teacher and also certified in different LesMills concepts (bodybalance, Sh’Bam, etc.).

In recent years I have turned more to the pilates approach in order to deepen my knowledge about fascia in motion.

The certification Center for Spatial Medicine, fascial fitness training, dissections at the University of Dundee have only increased my desire to know more and more about fascia and movement that I share with great enthusiasm.

I was born in Basel and also went to school here in Basel.

In 1992 I began my education and training as a physiotherapist and upon completion of this training, I immediately started working with neurological and orthopedic patients in a rehabilitation clinic; sometime after I moved on to work as a manual therapist within a private physiotherapy practice in Basel. In the context of my work as a physiotherapist I discovered my particular interest and fascination for fascia and its relevance in the recovery and rehabilitation of the physical body, and my motivation and drive to assist, train and enable a human being to rediscover a way of life free from physical pain and stress.

Through my subsequent additional training as a Pilates CPM instructor (www.centreforspatialmedicine.com) I was later on in life able to close an important professional learning cycle that today enables me to help my clients to get well, recover and feel fit, by applying a well-rounded, holistic and integrated therapy and training approach. This approach combines my traditional physiotherapy knowledge and skills with my hands-on Pilates knowledge and skills, and applies a long-term and sustainable perspective for the client. My training programmes are consistently tailor-made to the specific needs and desires of each and every client

Cecilia Naegeli Cunico - Member

After the three-year training with Centre for Spatial Medicine in Zurich, Cecilia is now certified to teach myofascial Pilates on the mat and on all Studio equipment. She teaches in German and Italian.

In the spring of 2001, Cecilia was leafing through a newspaper. Her eyes fell on the picture of a strange device. The article accompanying it introduced a still unknown training method: Pilates.

At that time, Cecilia worked in an office and had back tension all the time. So she went to the first Pilates studio in Lugano and arranged a trial lesson on this strange piece of equipment, the Universal Reformer. One trial lesson - and she was hooked! Cecilia began passionately practicing Pilates on the mat and on the equipment. Her posture relaxed and soon the back problems disappeared.

In 2015, Cecilia started having big problems with her back again. He rebelled to the stress and long sitting in the office. An hour of Pilates training once a week was no longer enough for her. So in 2017, she quit her job as an HR professional and trained as a Pilates teacher in contemporary Pilates at art of motion in Bern.

Then Cecilia discovered fascia and myofascial meridians. On her own body, through manual integration and through movement. She was immediately fascinated by this new movement experience and in 2018 decided to train as a Neuromyofascial Pilates teacher at Centre for Spatial Medicine in Zurich.

Theresa first discovered Pilates as she was recovering from a Cancer post-operation. Taking the advice of a nurse, she decided to try Pilates. One private lesson is all it took for her to feel results. It suddenly became the highlight of her week! Pilates helped Theresa to recover faster, grow stronger, and reconnect with her mind and body; it improved the quality of her life. These results inspired Theresa to embark on the career she has today.

In 2018 Theresa started her 3-year Spatial Medicine Training (CFSM) with faculty teacher Joachim Schultz at Re-Alease, in Zürich. Theresa is now a CFSM qualified teacher. She teaches at a fully equipped studio in Schaffhausen, Switzerland where she offers Personalized Trainings, Duet Sessions & Mat in English, German and Spanish.

Theresa believes that as Pilates teachers, we are not just teaching exercises, we are using our expertise to find different avenues to help our clients evolve. Her aim is to help her clients of any age, to gain general body awareness, flexibility and strength, moving in their own fascial body, to be mindfully reconnected and re-stored. Her Pilates Education with an emphasis on Fascia and using the guidance of the 12 Anatomy Trains Lines from Thomas Myers perfectly compliments her lessons. Getting started can be the hard part; you show up and we’ll work together to make the change!

When she is not teaching or learning, she loves to spend time outdoors, walking, cycling, sailing or with her family & friends.
