I began my career as a Pilates teacher in 2006 when I qualified as a matwork teacher with Body Control Pilates.  Under the supervision of Karin Locher, founder and director of Contrology Pilates Method (CPM), I have since qualified in classical matwork and have successfully completed CPM’s Comprehensive Teaching Training programme allowing me to teach clients using studio apparatus.

I originally qualified as a manual therapist over 20 years ago.  After qualifying in sports therapy, I worked with disabled and able bodied athletes; attending at various sporting events including the London Marathon and the London Triathlon.  I also used to provide therapy to disabled and able-bodied persons at the Disability Foundation based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore.

I have a small fully equipped studio at my home where I teach individuals using Pilates equipment to those who are rehabilitating from injury or simply wish to enhance their movement potential.

In addition, I teach at a studio in Hatfield, at a Physiotherapy clinic in Radlett and I teach group matwork classes for hospital staff at St Albans City and Watford General Hospitals.

I am committed to improving, expanding and deepening my knowledge in the field of movement therapy, through regular attendance of workshops and continuing education programmes.

I am a fully qualified studio apparatus and matwork teacher. Once introduced to the form of Contrology Pilates Method I was completely hooked from the outset and decided to retrain. My initial training was in mat based pilates and taught for 10 years. I have also undertaken Fascial Release Therapy training with the School Of Body Works, which combines beautifully with this form of pilates. I have a fully equipped studio where the teaching is either done on a 1 to 1 and small group basis. I have extensive training in personal training and nutrition. It would be great to be given the opportunity to work with you and share my passion for pilates.

Fiona McIntosh - Member & Faculty

Born and educated in London, Fiona was a keen gymnast and dancer from early childhood and studied modern jazz dance into her twenties as well as practicing yoga. She was also an avid reader and after University Fiona chose a career working in publishing before eventually re-connecting with her passion and interest in movement. In 2004 she became a client at Karin Locher’s studio and her thirst for knowledge led her to first study with Body Control (Certified in 2005), then with Polestar Education (Studio Certified in 2007) and then with CPM (Contrology Pilates Method) Education (Certified in 2008). She has since certified in 2016 as a yoga teacher with Claire Murphy Yoga and has completed her Level 1 training in iRest meditation.

In 2010 Fiona became a full-time pilates teacher working from Karin Locher’s studio. She continued her education and knowledge of the fascial communication system attending courses with Steven Goldstein (integrated fascial release), Ann and Chris Frederick (Fascial Stretch Therapy), Robert Schleip, Tom E Myers’ Anatomy Trains, Peter E Levine (Somatic Experiencing) and Emilie Conrad (Continiuum). She is now Director of two studios, The Santosha Studio in Wiltshire and The Pilates Team in Hertfordshire. She is PMA certified and a Senior Faculty Teacher for Centre for Spatial Medicine in the United Kingdom. She teaches neomyofascial movement with reference to either modality of Pilates or yoga and regularly practices meditation.

Fiona’s curiosity of how the body moves and how the shape of the body mirrors the health of the mind and the spirit is completely embodied by her. I find the body, its make-up and physiology quite wondrous and there is so much to learn and the more I learn the more I realise how much more there is to know. My curiosity and thirst for knowledge will remain with me until the day I die. I am enriched by my teaching as I share my knowledge so too I learn from all my clients and students. I spent several years of my life in pain as I have had not one, but many accidents and a major operation. I know what it is like to realise that nobody else can take my pain away. My heartfelt desire to try and not rely on drugs to mask pain has led me on this amazing journey with Spatial Medicine. I have no idea where that determination and purpose came from but every day I am thankful for it”.

I started teaching Pilates in 2003 after qualifying with Body Control Pilates. Under the mentorship of Karin Locher I went on to successfully graduate from The Comprehensive CPM Apprenticeship –- unique training that incorporates newly emerging knowledge of our fascial anatomy, bringing a new understanding to Pilates classical matwork and the studio apparatus programme.

Research in to the nature of fascia is growing, and there is much to learn about keeping this pervasive part of our bodies healthy and resilient.

I continue to deepen my knowledge and training with regular attendance of seminars and workshops and have recently started Spatial Medicine’s Bridge Programme, completing Bridge 1 this year.

I have a small fully equipped studio in my home in Denham where I offer one-to-one sessions for those of all ages who wish to find a greater ease in their movement.

I have been practising Pilates since 2002 and teaching since 2005. I had no background of dance or fitness but simply started taking Pilates classes after two car accidents left me with back and joint problems and was inspired to train.

I am passionate about the real and lasting changes that focused movement can make to those in pain. I teach Chronic Pain classes and am regularly contribute to the pain management courses offered by the Norfolk and Norwich hospital Pain Management Service. Using the CPM Education movement strategies has opened a whole new way to enable my private clients and patients to learn to recover and lose holding patterns that were causing pain and injury. I feel very lucky to have met this work so early in my career and to be part of the International Spatial Medicine | CPM Education faculty team. My focus is to ensure that the whole body health benefits of this work are interrogated into our health system and I am involved in a number of projects working to bring this about.

I am also part of the Global Diagnostic specialist Back Pain Clinic. The Clinic is a multi disciplinary team based at Colney Hall and employed by the NHS as part of a Tier 3 service to provide physical activity and movement training.

I originally trained with The Body Control Pilates Association in Matwork . I then went on to qualify in Studio Equipment and Classical Matwork through CPM Education.

I am also qualified as a level 3 Pilates Advanced Instructor, to take GP Referrals and I am Level 4 Exercise Specialist for Obesity and Diabetes on the Register of Exercise Professionals.

Having graduated with a Sports Science Degree in 2002 - I started life as a Personal Trainer and quickly narrowed my area of expertise as a Pilates Instructor in 2003. Having trained in many schools of Pilates through out my career - I have truly found my calling with CPM Education and Spacial Medicine, and am proud to be a faculty teacher for this pioneering area of movement education.

Coupled with my specialist skills in Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) and Reconnective Healing, it is my absolute passion to bring the most cutting edge teaching to my clients and my students. It's definitely an exciting time to be embarking on a journey into such a new paradigm of discovery - and I firmly believe that the best is yet to come - we're improving what we offer at such a rate - it's awe inspiring to think which directions we might be heading.

Other passions in my life include: sport; food; being an awesome Dad; the study of ancient Egyptology and a fascination with consciousness evolution - but mainly just being a Dad!

I began my working life as a primary school teacher. Back problems brought me to Pilates which I found made an enormous difference to my back issues. I therefore chose to train as a Pilates teacher with Body Control Pilates in London.

I have been teaching matwork in my local area since 2011. In that time I have continued my professional development, attending a number of different courses with Body Control Pilates in the use of small equipment and specialist groups.

After working with Fiona McIntosh at the Santosha Studio I knew that there was something qualitatively different about Pilates with CPM. Therefore in 2015 I chose to extend my understanding through the Comprehensive Teacher Training with CPM/Centre for Spatial Medicine, qualifying in 2017. I now teach studio equipment and matwork from a fascial understanding of the body, finding healthier ways of moving and a greater ‘ease’ of the body.

I continue to be curious about the human body and how it moves and seek to help my clients to share in that curiosity and discovery.

I’ve been teaching and sharing the Pilates Method since qualifying with the Oxford School of Pilates in 2006, in both Classical Mat and Studio Apparatus. Over the years, I have sought out world class Master Pilates and Movement Educators and internationally renowned organisations to regularly update my skills and knowledge in the field of anatomy and movement.

Underpinning all of this, is the wide-ranging experience I gained from a previous senior management career in People and Organisational Development and then as an independent Life Coach, supporting my clients with the tools to explore their potential.

I became a Certified Teacher with the groundbreaking Centre for Spatial Medicine in 2017, after personal Mentor training with Karin Locher, Fiona Macintosh and Jane Elizabeth Williams. This was leading edge thinking - combining advanced fascial anatomy and spatial awareness with Joseph Pilate’s original Contrology Method - and it gave me a much deeper understanding of the integrated body and how we can make long-lasting changes to improve quality of movement and well-being.

It was an intensive and exhilarating experience and it completely transformed how I practise - both personally and with clients of all ages and ability.

Many clients want to get the most out of feeing fitter and healthier and respond easily to movement retraining. Others may need appropriate strategies to manage medical conditions, recurring aches and pains or to continue rehabilitation after surgery or injury. Working together, we can identify unhelpful movement/balance patterns and use this information to form and maintain better ones. Those subtle but deeply powerful shifts, within the body and the mind, make a real difference - leading to the witnessing of some amazing outcomes, rewarding client feedback and heartwarming testimonials.

My Pilates studio, Edgbaston Pilates Studio, Birmingham, is fully equipped with apparatus for 1-1s and for small group mat classes - looking out over beautiful gardens, full of light, spacious and ready to welcome you.

I originally trained as a diagnostic radiographer, graduating BHSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography in 2000. Having worked both in the NHS and overseas I was introduced to Pilates in 2006 following an injury at work.

I immediately loved the studio equipment work, the improvement in pain levels and movement were nothing short of life changing, however I stayed as a client. Fast forward a few years (two children and a move back to the UK) and I was able to finally expand my Pilates knowledge and train as an instructor. I found CPM (now Centre for Spatial Medicine) through Lindsay and completed my comprehensive training with her in Norwich, qualifying in 2018.

Having worked in the hospital system, where the focus is very much on the affected area, the whole body, holistic nature of spatial medicine is something that inspires me daily. I love the change you can make in a client, their pain levels and their movement patterns. The work has also inspired me to qualify as a level 4 Rossiter coach in 2019.Having worked in the hospital system, where the focus is very much on the affected area, the whole body, holistic nature of spatial medicine is something that inspires me daily.
